Our Principles

The Sherwin-Williams Company is committed to implementing practices that minimize our impact on the environment, protect the safety and health of our employees, customers and the public, and promote sustainability. We will conduct our business operations in a manner that promotes obtainment of these objectives. Employees at all levels are accountable for assuring high standards of environmental, health and safety compliance and performance. Safety, health and protection of the environment will be maintained as integral aspects of all business activities.

To fulfill this commitment, we will:

  • Design, manufacture and distribute products, and dispose of wastes in a way that reduces or prevents their environmental impact.
  • Reduce wastes and emissions by installing and maintaining pollution prevention measures and promoting resource conservation.
  • Establish and monitor environmental, safety and health objectives and targets to promote the continual improvement of our performance.
  • Communicate with interested parties and be responsive to community concerns.
  • Assist governments in developing equitable and attainable standards.
  • Develop education and training systems that support health, safety and environmental objectives.
  • Support environmental sustainability practices and programs through the conduct of our business and within the community.

Responsibility

Safety, health and protecting the environment are fundamental responsibilities of every Sherwin-Williams employee. All employees are expected to perform their work in such a manner as not to jeopardize the environment or the safety and health of themselves, fellow workers, customers, or the public. Operating managers and supervisors are directly responsible for the work-related safety and health of their employees and the environment.

Implementation
