Fence Protection - Get It Done Faster
So, winter’s coming, and you've decided to give your fence some much-needed attention and protection. You want to do a good job that will last – so it’s important to know the best way to tackle it.
Choosing the right tools for a job is vital – the right ones will always help you get the job done better and faster.
And when it comes to protecting your fence, we've got you covered. Our extensive range of easy to use, super-efficient applicators means that DIY-ers will be spoilt for choice.
Let’s tackle the simple questions first. Which tool is the best for your job? Is it better to go for a pump sprayer, maybe a power sprayer - or a good old-fashioned brush?
The first step is to assess the size of the task, and how you want to approach it.
If you’re only going to be coating a small area of fencing, or if you want to take your time on the project, brushes are perfect. They are great for getting in those awkward and hard-to-reach places, and painting a panel takes less time than you think if you use a good quality broad brush. Brushes are also a nice way to give your panels the personal touch, and will give you the satisfaction of a job well done!
Of course, if you've got a lot of panelling to cover, using a brush doesn't make so much sense – this is the kind of job that needs something more powerful!
Time to get spraying
Enter Ronseal’s two spray options: the Pump Sprayer and the Precision Power Sprayer.
The Pump Sprayer, once it’s pumped up, can cover an entire panel in under five minutes, leaving you to enjoy your newly protected fences in next to no time. Just fill it, pump it and spray it. It’s handy and powerful – and is perfect if you need to prioritise covering lots of panels in a short time.
There’s one more, even more powerful option – one that gives you unparalleled accuracy and that doesn't need any pumping. Our Precision Finish Power Sprayer is the fastest way to paint a fence. Just attach the sprayer to the tub, choose one of three power settings, and you’ll be coating your panels instantly.
The Power Sprayer gives you precision as well as pace. The adjustable settings allow you to ensure you’ll enjoy a professional finish. Just use a lower power setting to outline the edges and other tricky areas, and then select the high setting to power through the remainder. You should be able to complete each panel in less than three minutes!
Still not sure which will be best for you? We put all three options to the test: brush vs. Pump Sprayer vs. Power Sprayer. We used them all to paint a fence panel in a race – check out the results here or below!

Last Friday we ran an apology. It explained that, after 21 years, we were ending the use of our famous ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’ line. We want to apologise for that apology and say, that we are now even sorrier than we were.
Autumn is here so you know what that means. Frosty mornings, the crunch of leaves, bonfires, and massive heating bills. To save energy, and hopefully cut costs, here’s a few DIY tips before winter.
